Virginian Steak House. 620
First Colonial Road. 757-428-8511. Food-3. Service-3. Atmosphere-3.
Spaghetti, Steaks and Seafood. Not spectacular, but good basic fair. Big
portions. Nice place for lunch. The Greek salad and club sandwich are
probably the best in the area. For $9 or $10 you can get just about any
entree that fits your mood… a good filling meal with all the extras.
Lunch prices are a couple of dollars less. Appetizers and sandwiches are
about $5. The decor is Greek murals with booths on the side and tables in
the middle. There is a sunroom but your view is 1st Colonial Road and it
tends to get hot in the summer. Plenty of parking and no reservations
needed. June 07

Black Angus.706
Atlantic Ave, 757-428-7700.
Food 2, Service 3, Atmosphere 4.
Entrée prices
average: steaks $19; seafood $20; specials $12; appetizers $9; burger
$10; 4-item children's menu, $4.25-$7.00.
I remembered the Black Angus from visits 30 years ago when it was on
31st & Pacific. My memories were of excellence. It was too warm and
the waitress said it was always too warm because the manager was old
and always cold. The bread basket contained bread sticks I could not
bite and rolls that were clearly burned and should never have left the
kitchen. We ordered the $27 broiled seafood platter and got an
overcooked selection whose only seasoning was paprika and lots of it.
I know it is a steak house but if you cannot cook anything else, then
don't put it on the menu. They did comp my meal but I would rather
have eaten.
City garage parking next door.
