Capes Café. 20th and Oceanfront in Capes Motel. 428-5421. Food-2; Service-3; Atmosphere-3. If you want a Mexican restaurant on the boardwalk, this is the one – actually the only one! Outdoor dining (4 tables) is taken to the max: there is no roof, no walls, and no columns to block the view. Just pray it doesn’t rain as there are only 3 tables and a bar inside. But the place was fun. The waitress and owner are very helpful and the owner enjoys chatting with the customers. Prices are easy on the budget. Appetizers $4, sandwiches and burgers are $5 or less, entrees from $4 to $14, with most in the $7 range. Pizzas $12. Ice cream is it for dessert. Parking is on the street or the 19th and Pacific city lot. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. July 03 Don Julios Mexican Grill and Bar. 3656 Shore Drive. 216-3300. Food-3. Service-4. Atmosphere-4. Located on the west side of the Lynnhaven Inlet bridge in the Chick's Beach area. Choose open air, with a view of the highway, or inside dining which has a southwest motif. Authentic Mexican staff. If you have trouble communicating, just order by number. Either most of the Mexican restaurants here are owned by the same person or they copy each other’s menu. Choose from 24 dinner combos or 28 lunch combos. Dinner averages $7.50; lunch $6. The fajitas cost a little more, but are great and loaded with meat. Service is quick. Chips and salsa kept you munching while you wait for your order which took less than 10 minutes. More than one Texas margarita and you will be crawling out. November. Pelon’s Baja Grill - California Style Mexican - 3619 Pacific Ave - 417-3970. F-4; S-3; A-3 Open for lunch and dinner. Pelon appeals to the teen, young adult surfer set, with the walls covered with surfing and skateboard memorabilia and a surfing video on the TV. Atmosphere is casual - order at the counter, with food quickly delivered to your table or for takeout. Appetizers are $2.75-$8; soups and salads $5.50-$8. Entrees consist of the biggest burritos I have ever seen - ten choices, ave. $6.50 - or tacos at $1.99, with a vegetarian offering for each. Four desserts, $1.75-$3.50, plus beer, wine, and a good margarita even if it is from a machine. Chips and their fresh homemade salsa came with our meal. Kids Menu, parking on the premises.October 06
